From the looks of this clip, this series may be something really special. This is in a whole other league than Lord of the Rings, some kind of realistic fantasy. I can’t wait.

text 19 Mar Dear Sister - An SNL Digital Short

I think this SNL Digital Short is the funniest and most satisfying piece of work they’ve produced yet.

It only aired twice and was pulled from all NBC and other sharing sites after the Virginia Tech shootings, occurring only a few days after the first airing. It was deemed insensitive to leave it up.

Officially titled The Shooting, It was broadcast during the April 14, 2007 episode of SNL. The short satirizes the final scene of The O.C.’s second season finale. In it Keith (Bill Hader) writes a letter to his sister as Dave (Andy Samberg) asks what he is doing. As Keith responds, explaining he hasn’t seen his sister in a long time, Dave suddenly and inexplicably shoots him. Keith’s overly-dramatic, slow-motion death unfolds as Imogen Heap’s Hide and Seek plays. Dave in shock, collapses. Then as Dave gathers his bearings, Keith rises and suddenly shoots him in return, having recovered from his injury long enough to exact his revenge, the music cue restarts again. This repeats for several more rounds as various others enter the scene and are in turn shot and shoot each other, Imogen Heap incessantly restarting with each shooting. The repetition and the music itself are at once haunting, and hilarious.

The frame above links to the clip I found at a German site (or just click here http://www.hornoxe.com/dear-sister-snl-digital-short).
